John Garamendi, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 8th district since 2009, recently addressed constituents on social media regarding legislative matters and community events.
On October 30, 2025, Garamendi posted about federal contingency funding law, stating, “I’ll help him out. Here is the law establishing the contingency fund: https://t.co/YTK99hPnnP https://t.co/ErblplEOls”.
Later that day, he invited the public to upcoming town hall meetings to discuss pressing issues. He wrote on October 30, 2025: “Questions about SNAP cuts, Medi-Cal subsidies, or the government shutdown? Join me for TWO townhalls next week covering all these topics and more. Garamendi has served in Congress since replacing Ellen Tauscher in 2009 and previously held positions in both the California State Assembly and Senate. He was born in Camp Blanding, Florida in 1945 and resides in Walnut Grove. Garamendi earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966 and completed further studies at Harvard University in 1970.
