John Garamendi, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 8th district since 2009, has recently addressed a range of issues on his social media platform, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and upcoming public townhall events.
On July 26, 2025, Garamendi posted a statement regarding the situation in Gaza: “It must end. My statement on the starvation crisis in Gaza.”
He continued his outreach to constituents by announcing a virtual event. On July 27, 2025, he wrote: “Join me on MONDAY @6PM PT for a Zoom Townhall. Come with questions! From ICE raids in California to Ukraine funding, I’ll answer all your questions. Looking forward to seeing you there or on my YouTube Channel! The following day, July 28, 2025, Garamendi reiterated his invitation: “TONIGHT @ 6:00 pm PST, I’m hosting a townhall on Zoom. Garamendi has been active in Congress since replacing Ellen Tauscher in 2009 and previously served in both the California State Assembly and Senate from the mid-1970s through 1990. He was born in Camp Blanding, Florida in 1945 and currently resides in Walnut Grove. Garamendi is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley (BA) and Harvard University.
