John Garamendi, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 8th district since 2009, has recently addressed topics ranging from international partnerships to domestic economic concerns through his social media posts.
On May 26, Garamendi expressed gratitude for international collaboration by stating, “Thank you @RokEmbDC for your partnership in security, shipbuilding, and industrial infrastructure investment in America. I look forward to continuing our work and ensuring shared prosperity and safety for our constituencies.”
The following day, on May 27, he reminded constituents about an upcoming public event: “REMINDER: I’m hosting a townhall tomorrow. You’ll get to ask me anything, from what’s the latest on the Iran war to how I’m bringing jobs to the district. I want to hear directly from you about the issues impacting your families, neighborhoods, and future. Join us for an honest”.
On May 28, Garamendi commented on economic matters with a reference to currency value: “Soon we’ll all be using Trump notes to pay for one gallon of gas.”
Garamendi has represented California’s 8th district since succeeding Ellen Tauscher in 2009. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the California State Assembly and State Senate over several decades beginning in the mid-1970s. Born in Camp Blanding, Florida in 1945 and currently residing in Walnut Grove at age 78, Garamendi is an alumnus of both the University of California, Berkeley and Harvard University.
