John Garamendi, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 8th district since 2009, has recently voiced his concerns over national security issues through a series of tweets. Garamendi, who succeeded Ellen Tauscher in Congress and has a long history of public service including time in the California State Assembly and Senate, expressed his disapproval regarding certain actions by Trump’s former national security secretaries.
On March 25, 2025, Garamendi tweeted his agreement with Representative Jeffries on the need for Hegseth’s removal. He criticized Trump’s top national security secretaries for their behavior: “Trump’s top national security secretaries got together like a bunch of teenagers, talking about the school dance and the football game.” He questioned their actions stating that it made no sense and deemed it extremely dangerous.
The following day, March 26, 2025, Garamendi reiterated his stance on classified information via another tweet: “These are obviously classified war plans. This is the kind of classified information that risks the lives of our troops.” He again called for Hegseth’s removal.
