John Garamendi, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 8th district since 2009, addressed several issues in a series of posts on November 12, 2025.
In his first post, Garamendi criticized former President Donald Trump’s military policy regarding Venezuela: “By ordering the largest troop buildup since the Iraq War, Trump is dangerously close to dragging the U.S. into a war with Venezuela. We can’t let him start another endless war — risking American lives to satisfy a narcissist.” (November 12, 2025)
Later that day, Garamendi raised concerns about FBI Director Kash Patel’s conduct and use of taxpayer funds: “While families go hungry and federal workers miss paychecks, FBI Director Kash Patel is going on taxpayer-funded trips to Vegas, luxury hunts, and jetting to his girlfriend’s wrestling events. If Trump cared about waste, fraud, and abuse, he should start with his FBI director.” (November 12, 2025)
Garamendi also welcomed Rep. Adelita Grijalva to the House of Representatives after a delay in her swearing-in: “Welcome to the House, Rep. Adelita Grijalva! Speaker Johnson delayed your swearing-in for 50 days. That’s 49 days too long for 800,000 Arizonans without representation. No more. Today, Rep. Grijalva takes her seat. Now, let’s get to work.” (November 12, 2025)
Garamendi has represented California’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Ellen Tauscher in 2009 and previously served in both chambers of the California legislature. Born in Camp Blanding, Florida in 1945 and currently residing in Walnut Grove, he is an alumnus of UC Berkeley and Harvard University.
