On March 5, 2025, Garamendi addressed claims made by Donald Trump regarding Social Security. He stated, “Everything Trump just said about millions of people and 300-year-olds getting Social Security is a blatant lie.”
In another tweet posted on the same day, Garamendi criticized Trump’s qualifications and character as president. He expressed concern over Trump’s continued presidency, urging vigilance to protect democracy: “Donald Trump is most unqualified, unstable, unserious, and treacherous President our country has ever had. America has four more years with President Trump, we must fight every single day to protect our democracy.”
Later that day, Garamendi announced an upcoming appearance on MSNBC to discuss Trump’s recent Joint Address. He tweeted: “Catch me live on @msnbc to discuss Trump’s disgraced Joint Address last night.”
