Solano Post Acute emerged as the largest nursing home in Solano County during the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS data indicates that the facility offered 166 beds—72 more than the Solano County average for the quarter—and cared for an average of 157.3 residents during that time.
The center received an overall rating of 3 out of 5 from CMS, falling below the California nursing home average rating of 3.2.
Vacaville Convalescent & Rehab was identified as the county’s second largest nursing home, providing 120 beds, while Fairfield Post-Acute Rehab ranked third with 99 beds.
By the end of the first quarter of 2026, Solano Post Acute had accrued $73,177 in two fines and faced two penalties.
Solano County, California, was home to seven for-profit nursing homes in total.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the older adult population is increasing nationwide while the younger population declines. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population has expanded greatly, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 study indicates that about half of this demographic—approximately 28 million people—may need long-term services and support, with more than a third potentially requiring nursing home care later in life.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
