John Garamendi, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 8th district, has been vocal about his concerns regarding former President Donald Trump's policies in recent tweets. Serving since 2009, Garamendi has used his platform to address issues he believes are critical for the nation.

On January 29, 2025, Garamendi criticized Trump’s federal freeze policy by stating: "Before Trump’s embarrassing loss, his federal freeze started a crisis Our local food bank, @foodbankccs, told me that Trump's freeze blocked $1 million meant to buy food from BIPOC local farmers recovering from the pandemic Trump cause this chaos and he’ll do it again".

Later on the same day, Garamendi expressed further concerns about Trump's impact on government programs: "Donald Trump wants to destroy the way that the federal government and citizens have interacted over the last century. Countless healthcare programs, medical research, Head Start, SNAP, WIC, climate reliance, and highway projects are still frozen! Watch @AnneMakovec on @KPIXtv".

On January 30, 2025, Garamendi reported taking action against these policies by sending a letter to demand immediate attention to specific funding issues: "I just sent a letter to the Trump administration demanding that they immediately address delayed Head Start funds. Without these funds some centers will have to temporarily close leaving low-income children and families to suffer."
