John Garamendi, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 8th district since 2009, has recently expressed his views on several political issues through a series of tweets. Known for his extensive career in public service, Garamendi addressed topics including trade tariffs, federal employee buyouts, and the operations of USAID.

On February 3, 2025, Garamendi criticized the ongoing trade policies with Canada. He stated that "Canadians shouldn’t have to put up with Trump’s Tariffs. We simply shouldn’t have this trade war. It’s just crazy and really stupid."

The following day, February 4, 2025, he addressed federal employees directly regarding an impending buyout offer. Garamendi urged them not to be intimidated by the offer from Trump and President Musk. He emphasized the importance of their roles by stating "We value all career civil servants and ask you all to remain at your posts and continue to serve the American people- not unelected billionaires."

On February 5, 2025, Garamendi expressed strong opposition against actions taken by Elon Musk concerning USAID. He questioned Musk's authority in attempting to shut down the agency's operations and called for resistance against such measures: “For 60 years USAID has been curing diseases around the world. Who the hell does Musk think he is in shutting it down?!? Congress and the public must resist every action by Musk and Trump.”
