John Garamendi, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 8th district, recently shared his views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Garamendi, who has been in office since 2009 and previously served in both the California State Assembly and Senate, addressed concerns ranging from food security to social welfare programs.

On March 13, 2025, Garamendi expressed concern over the termination of a USDA food bank program by former President Trump. He stated: "Trump is ending a $1B USDA food bank program that allows local food banks and schools to purchase food from local farmers." He emphasized the potential impact on food banks in his district, such as @foodbankccs, highlighting that "millions of Americans will go to bed hungry because of Trump."

In another tweet dated March 14, 2025, Garamendi paid tribute to Raul Grijalva following his passing. He wrote: "Raul Grijalva was a champion for environmental justice and working people until his last breath." Expressing personal grief alongside Patti, he acknowledged Grijalva's lasting legacy and inspiration for Arizonans and Americans.

Later on March 14, 2025, Garamendi underscored the importance of safeguarding social welfare programs. He tweeted: "Social Security is a fundamental program and we must stay vigilant of all attacks on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid." The message was also shared in Spanish to reach a broader audience.
