John Garamendi, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman representing California's 8th district, shared a series of updates on Twitter. His posts highlighted efforts to strengthen workforce opportunities in the construction and trades industry, legislative action towards affordable housing, and his personal experience with cancer, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early detection.

On April 11, 2025, Garamendi tweeted about his meeting with the Contra Costa Building and Construction Trades Council. He noted the discussion focused on how to recruit, train, and bolster the nation’s construction and trades workforce, including opportunities within the maritime industry. Later on the same day, Garamendi tweeted in commemoration of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, highlighting its significance as a landmark law against housing discrimination. He announced the introduction of the HOME Act with Rep. Beatty, aimed at funding new affordable housing and addressing the housing crisis. "But the fight isn't over" underscored his continued advocacy.

In another post on April 11, Garamendi shared his personal medical journey in recognition of Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Month. He recounted a pivotal moment from the previous year when he was advised by his doctor to undergo a series of tests, which led to the diagnosis of early-stage Multiple Myeloma, a treatable blood cancer. He used his experience to emphasize the life-saving potential of early detection and urged followers to be informed about necessary screenings.
