He stressed the critical need for investment in workers.

Later on the same day, Garamendi tweeted in commemoration of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, highlighting its significance as a landmark law against housing discrimination. He announced the introduction of the HOME Act with Rep. Beatty, aimed at funding new affordable housing and addressing the housing crisis. "But the fight isn't over" underscored his continued advocacy.

He recounted a pivotal moment from the previous year when he was advised by his doctor to undergo a series of tests, which led to the diagnosis of early-stage Multiple Myeloma, a treatable blood cancer. John Garamendi, born in 1945 in Camp Blanding, Florida, and a resident of Walnut Grove, has been serving in Congress since 2009, following his tenure in the California State Assembly and State Senate. A graduate of both the University of California, Berkeley, and Harvard University, Garamendi has a long history of public service.
