John Garamendi, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 8th district, has been vocal on social media about his opposition to recent actions by former President Donald Trump and other Republicans. His tweets highlight concerns over proposed cuts to Medicaid, as well as actions affecting Social Security, Medicare, and education.

On March 18, 2025, Garamendi expressed his concerns regarding proposed Medicaid cuts. He stated that "Trump and Republicans are pushing the largest Medicaid cut in history." He emphasized the potential impact on millions of people, including over 300,000 individuals in his district who depend on Medicaid for healthcare. Garamendi affirmed his commitment to protecting Medicaid.

On March 20, 2025, Garamendi shared details about a town hall meeting he held addressing various issues. In this tweet, he mentioned that "Last night, I held a townhall covering Trump and Musk’s latest unconstitutional actions and their attempts to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid." He encouraged constituents to watch the full town hall session and reach out to his offices with any questions or concerns.

Later that day on March 20th, Garamendi criticized an order by Donald Trump related to education policy. He tweeted that "Donald Trump has officially declared war on America’s students" referring to Trump's order aiming to eliminate the Department of Education. Garamendi warned of the detrimental effects such an action could have on schools across the nation and committed to working with House Democrats to challenge this order legally.
